Hello Ailsa,

So sorry you having a tough time with yourself and your parents. I know when working full time and
also looking after a Parents is soo difficult. I looked after my sick Mother for 5 years whilst holding
down a Managerial full time job and yes it took its toll.

I thing it may help to start your new drugs as Lyn says.

Thanks Rose - today was crazy. Dad rang me at school to say he had had bad chest pains and collapsed on the bathroom floor for an hour before he could move. His angina meds were not relieving the pain so I rang an ambulance.

Now I have Dad in hospital on one ward and Mum 2 floors above him! I have spent the last 6 hours flitting between the two of them and gathering necessities from their house. Really can't keep going at this pace. I have a Dr appointment tomorrow and am thinking of asking to be signed off for a while. I need to sort out with both ward Drs what happens next and also I have the appointment with the nurse on Thursday about starting Enbrel. My CRP has doubled and liver enzymes are high again.

I also think I will have to go out tomorrow and buy another fridge. We always strugle for space with 5 of us in the house. I had no idea the drug supply would be so big! It was delivered to school today and I had a quick peek in the fridge before I hadto leave to get to the hospital. The parcel takes up a whole shelf!! There is no way it will fit in our fridge.

Hi Ailsa,

I think it's a good idea to ask your doc to sign you off for a while.
You have so much going on and no time at all to rest, which is showing in your blood results. How old are your children, could they help you with the hospital visiting and collecting stuff from their Grandparents' house?
I hope things get better for you soon, and fingers crossed that Enbrel turns out to be your wonder drug!

Oh Ailsa, poor you,

I so so feel for you/ It brings back some memories as said before.

Your body will not allow you to continue at that pace so I think as soon
as your Doctor sees you he will def sign you off - a good job too I think/
Take care of yourself you need to to be able to try and cope with
your parents.

Hi Ailsa

So sorry to hear of your additional problems and sincerely hope the GP recognises your need for time away from your job. Hope your Mum and Dad are on the mend soon.

I think you will find that the Enbrel parcel will contain a sharps bin (that doesn't go in the fridge, just somewhere safe!) and makes up half the parcel! Are you weekly (50ml) or twice weekly (25ml) injections? I get one months supply (8 packs); I dismantle the items into component parts - only the phials of Enbrel actually need to go in the fridge, packaging goes in bin, sterile wipes in first aid box in cupboard! Sorted!

You have so much on your plate at present, and must be feeling stressed o death with your parents both in hospital - hospital visiting really takes it out of you. I hope you can get some time off, as you need to look after yourself too.
